From Hackathons To Rap Battles, Chandigarh Gears Up For PECFest 2019

PECFest, the three-day annual techno-cultural fest from November 8th to 10th, combines technology and culture to show the synergy between the two. A confluence of art, talent, and attractions, it aims to inculcate passion and industriousness through events that are organized at an avant-garde level. The current version of the PECFest aims for participation that echoes dedication in an unprecedented extravaganza.

Who attends PECFest?

With a footfall of 50000+ people and more than 8000 participants from all over north India, the fest is bustling with activity on all three days.

Previous years have seen top-notch musicians like Sukhwinder Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Amit Trivedi, and duo Vishal-Shekhar, The Local Train, Zephyrtone, Indian Ocean, Jochen Miller, Benny Dayal, Agnee, Parikrama, VJ Anusha and many more! Their cultural nights have been major crowd-pullers. The fest will also be host to technical sessions by Walter Levin, and also other guest speakers like Yahya Bootwala and Gaurav Gupta, who are a storehouse of immense knowledge and fun.

What is PECFest 2019 all about?

It started with a mission to engage the hidden creativity among all students. Now, it’s to drive change amongst the youth and build a foundation for a better future.

The synergy between technological developments and cultural activities in the college is well depicted by events like:

  • Technical

The best of the brilliant minds will be surfaced and innovations from the erudite will be discovered. Explore the joy of never-before inventions, right here beyond this link. Technical events are namely Robotics, Hackathons, Aquajet, etc.

  • Cultural

The dreamers, the artists and the liberals who maintain the merry spirits of the world; your energy will find a medium, your imagination- its reality, and your talent- a thriving purpose. PECFest brings to you events to surpass your magic. Here you’ll find your fascinating challenges and the rules to go by. Cultural events are namely Bhangra, Nukkad Natak, Rangmanch, Glitterati (modelling), Groovz (dance), Solo Singing, etc.

  • Tech Workshops

With technical events happening during day time, the nights are reserved for star performances. With such events, audience and in-house campus visibility, PECFest is sure to create a mutually beneficial relationship with its sponsors and partners.

The multi-skilled event varies in terms of creativity and hospitality every year. It targets a diverse audience, both collegiately and intercollegiate.

What’s new this year?

This year also witnesses their biggest collaboration yet, with IIT Bombay. PECFest will host the north zonal for Mood Indigo and Techfest- the cultural and technical fests respectively of IIT Bombay. Winners of select events in PECFest will get a wildcard entry into the final rounds of the contests in MoodIndigo and Techfest.

Does PECFest have partnerships concerning social cause initiatives?

Last year, PECFest partnered with Teach for India for a cause initiative. The pan-India NGO targets education for underprivileged children. This year, they aim to grow on the success of PECFest for a cause. They pledge sincere support and open CSR avenues for all their partners.
