PU’s Transgender Student Has Been Invited To Have Dinner With Canadian PM Justin Trudeau

The champion of equality and dignified life for transgenders, Dhananjay Chauhan, a Panjab University student, has been invited to a dinner with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday in New Delhi.

Dhananjay, a transgender student of Department of Human Rights and Duties in PU, will attend dinner-reception celebrating Canada-India ties on the occasion of the visit of Justin Trudeau, on February 22 at the residence of the high commissioner of Canada.

Dhananjay is a founder of Saksham Trust, an NGO, has been working to alleviate the plight of transgenders.

Earlier, Dhananjay was invited to Netherlands in 2016 to participate in an international meet on rights of transgender people. Further, Dhananjay’s frontal role in organising a ‘Pride Walk’ in the university campus in 2017 resulted in inviting a number of prominent personalities to the university including Consul General Canada Christophe Gibbins, the release added.
