Haryana Government Extends School Holidays Till July 7, Punjab Changes Timings

What’s Amazing

Amidst heat wave, the state government has announced that the summer vacation for schools will be extended by a week. The schools were scheduled to reopen on July 1.

“Due to intense heat wave condition prevalent throughout the State of Haryana, the summer vacations are hereby extended for another 7 days i.e. up to 07.07.2019 (i.e. Sunday). Schools will reopen on 08.07.2019 (i.e. Monday). All the Govt. and Private schools in the State of Haryana are directed to ensure the compliance of the orders,” an official statement said.

The maximum temperature over the last few days has remained 40-43 degrees Celsius. The state still awaits the arrival of monsoon.

In Punjab, the administration has decided to change school timings of all government primary, middle, high and senior secondary, aided and affiliated schools. The early hours of the day are bearable. But as afternoon sets in, it gets warmer and heat translates to drier temperatures. In order to bring some relief, as per Inderjit Singh, Director, Public Instructions, timings will be from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm. Earlier they were from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.
