Amid COVID Cases Rise, Chandigarh Admn Reviews & Makes Additional Facilities

Punjab Governor and UT administrator VPS Badnore, during a war room meeting held today, directed creation of additional facilities for 100 beds each in PGIMER & GMCH 32 exclusively for Chandigarh Covid patients.  

The Administrator presided over the meeting attended by Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator and DGP Sanjay Beniwal were present there.

The Administrator also interacted with Arun Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), AK Sinha, Finance Secretary, MC Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners of Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services & Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing.

Beds available in PU 

Manoj Parida stated that 600 beds are available in Hostel No. 8, 9 & 10 of Panjab University for taking care of mild and asymptomatic COVID positive cases.

Facilities in James Hotel have been requisitioned, he stated.

COVID positive patients, who can afford can stay and avail facilities of COVID Care Centre on payment basis there.

Interaction meeting on Tuesday

The administrator decided that an interaction meeting will be held via video conferencing with Municipal Councillors to seek their opinion regarding COVID management.

Smt. Kirron Kher, MP, Chandigarh will be invited to attend that meeting.

Appeal to residents

The Administrator also made an appeal to the residents to celebrate Independence Day Function while maintaining proper social distancing and following hygienic practices during the events.

Cases in tricity

The number of active cases in Mohali is 767, 372 in Panchkula and 700 in Chandigarh.
