Chandigarh Admn Developing Single Window to Deal with Trees Issues

The Carmel Convent School tragedy has brought to the fore the perils that heritage trees and dried-up trees pose to the people. Chandigarh administration has thus decided to create a single window system for felling or pruning trees in the city.

The Secretary, Forest Department, will now give approval for the cutting of trees. The department will approve the pruning or pollarding and removal of dead, dry or dangerous trees. The municipal corporation will continue to execute cutting or felling of trees.

The city residents can track their applications with the click of mouse which at present takes months to remove dead trees.
