Admission Process May Go Online in All Chandigarh Colleges

All colleges in Chandigarh are highly sought after by students not just in tricity but from all northern Indian states. However, the admission system in these colleges is so cumbersome demanding necessarily in-person submission of forms and certification verification.

These may soon become things of the past.

The UT Chandigarh Higher Education Department is seriously considering making the whole admission process in all 11 colleges in Chandigarh, from form procurement to fee deposit, online from the next academic session, 2018-19.

As per the proposal, the student can apply for courses online in all 11 colleges in Chandigarh. Forms can be procured from college website and submitted scanned copy of form and required certificates there itself. The college will screen the documents online and merit list for each course and upload it on website itself. Even the fee will be submitted online.

Those students seeking admission under reserved category will appear for counselling for colleges on a designated date to verify the reservation certificates.

Online Admission process already there in some colleges

At present, only GGDSD college, Sector 32, has a similar online admission which does not require student to be physically present for the admission in any course. Even the technical institute of city colleges also follow same mode of admission.

Decision will be taken by end of February

Rakesh Popli, director, higher education said the final decision on the admission criteria in city colleges will be taken by the end of this month. In the meeting with city college principals, most had agreed to the proposal.
